David Bedein is our scholar in residence this shabbat at SSJC
The Silver Spring Jewish Center is excited to announce that David Bedein, of the Center for Near East Policy Research (CNEPR) and the Israel Resource News Agency will be at the SSJC for a Scholar in Residence Shabbaton this coming Shabbos (February 20/21)
Mr. Bedein established the Center for Near East Policy Research as a research institute dedicated to proactive, investigative research and the publication of well-documented and cutting age data on the core issues of the Israeli-Arab conflict, with a sole purpose: to provide insights into the complex reality of Israel and the Middle East to decision makers, journalists and the general public. Since its inception in 1987, the Center has commissioned top-flight journalists, film makers, academics and researchers, and published dozens of investigative reports and documentary films on issues including, among others, Israeli-Palestinian relations, the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), education and official media in the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian Authority security forces, the Peace Process, terrorism, and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
The speaking program is as follows
- After Maariv on Friday (service starting at 5:30pm)
- Just before a community Kiddush on Shabbos morning (service starting at 8:50am)
- During Shalosh Seudos (service starting at 5:45pm)
As a special treat Mr. Bedein has agreed to a showing of some of the CNEPR’s ground breaking documentaries on the role of the United Nations in perpetuating violence in the Middle East. The film night willSaturday night at 7:30 pm and the cost will only be $10 for adults, $5 for teens. This is a rare opportunity to see what our major news networks and State Department would rather not tell us!
